Black Hats, Secret Service & Muted Mics

Thu, 09/04/2008 - 10:47

These accounts are proof of just how fearful the GOP establishment is of the Ron Paul rEVOLution... heaven forbid there would be any discussion of another delegate out loud. The Secret Service even confiscated property from Ron Paul supporters. And according to the LA Times when known Ron Paul supporters approached the microphone it would be turned off. Talk about choreography.... I would have to say that George Orwell's vision of the totalitarian state has arrived and it is alive and well in the GOP.

Ron Paul News Conference Sept 2, 2008

Wed, 09/03/2008 - 23:39

Ron Paul addresses the most frequent question in his opening remarks, "Why are we here?"

To save the Republic essentially.

Jeremiah Johnson, an alternate delegate to the GOP national convention in St. Paul, attending the Ron Paul Campaign for Liberty's Rally for the Republic in Minneapolis. Johnson is from Dubuque, Iowa and is an elected alternate delegate representing the 1st Congressional District at the RNC this week.

As a delegate Jeremiah was invited to an event hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations. Here he recounts the question he was able to ask Richard N. Haass the CFR's President, and Haass' response.

From Star Tribune: http://www.startribune.com/politics/27695244.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEy...

"Ramsey County authorities conducted raids across Minneapolis and St. Paul Friday and Saturday as a pre-emptive strike against disruptive protests of the Republican National Convention.

Five people were arrested and more than 100 were handcuffed, questioned and released by scores of deputies and police officers, according to police and elected officials familiar with the raids."

Does anyone else find this extremely outrageous?!

A full house of 600+ filled the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center, north suburb of Minneapolis to kick off the Rally for the Republic at the Real Politics Training session scheduled from 12pm to 9pm. Mike Rothfeld, the trainer/educator/proselytizer had beat up our sense of self worth and unrealistic activist expectations for many hours (making us all better activists mind you), we recently had broken bread together and the air conditioner was not working.

Thu, 08/28/2008 - 17:50

A ruling from the Republican National Committee panel said the (Nevada) state party violated rules when it appointed, rather than elected, its group of 34 delegates and 31 alternates, according to a report obtained by The Associated Press on Thursday.

Amazing that ABC even aired this piece. Someone must have been asleep at the switch when they let chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross put a fine point on the hypocrisy rampant amidst Obama's coronation.

Later, Jones told the Star-Banner some of the feuding within the Marion County REC was rooted in its fear of former Ron Paul supporters. Jones said that in many counties, former Paul backers were joining the mainstream Republican Party, namely local RECs.

Ran into Scott Horton's interview with Clyde Cleveland in 2004 about libertarian environmentalism here...
http://www.philipdru.com/audio/cleveland.mp3

Clyde lays out the principles of indigenous power versus surrogate power which he focuses on in 2008 with www.commonsenserevisted.org

Anyway, Scott Horton looks like a hell of a resource...
Check out his blog, especially this posting of Dr. Paul's congressional record statement from July 2008:

a portion of the statement is here:
