Last week Ron Paul hosted the historic Rally for the Republic event in Minneapolis, MN where a reported 12,000 liberty loving, home schooling, pro-gold standard, pro-gun, pro-privacy, pro-property owner rights, pro-non-intervention, pro-constitutionalists gathered from all corners of the U.S. They flocked to what the mainstream press coined the "counter convention", in defiance of the GOP's atrocious disrespect for Dr.

I had some business to conduct with my brother, a proud resident of the People's Republic of Lincoln, NE. We played a bit of telephone tag, mostly because I was at the Rally for the Republic. When we did finally connect, the morning after Sarah Palin's speech, he was instantly combative.

He believes I am a neocon, has no perspective in which to believe anything else. Invective, invective, sputtering invective. Ignorant in that he wants to equate Congressman Paul and Senator McCain because they are in the same party.

Black Hats, Secret Service & Muted Mics

These accounts are proof of just how fearful the GOP establishment is of the Ron Paul rEVOLution... heaven forbid there would be any discussion of another delegate out loud. The Secret Service even confiscated property from Ron Paul supporters. And according to the LA Times when known Ron Paul supporters approached the microphone it would be turned off. Talk about choreography.... I would have to say that George Orwell's vision of the totalitarian state has arrived and it is alive and well in the GOP.

Joined in the last hour of the www.restoretherepublic.com 's conference call this evening. Apparent there were approximately 110 of us on the call... from all over the US, coast to coast.

Robust dialog of everything from the ruination of our health by the so called health care industry (flouride) to the illegality of the income tax were discussed.

The slow boiling frog who doesn't know he's being boiled is the common denominator on every topic.

So here's some key links of sites that were discussed this evening:

ThinkFree Presents : The Magnificent Deception

I signed up for John McCain's email list.
It's a portal into a sad state of affairs in American leadership....

Note how McCain's vision for moving forward is NOT going back to our Constitutional beginnings (or "back" as he puts it) but looking forward as the world's leader.

Definitely not quite clear on the concept anymore is McCain. Even if our constitution established a goal of the Republic for the union of states to BE the world leader, we sure are doing a shitty job of that.

I digress... let presumptive nominee speak for himself.

A friend of mine pulled a yellowed aged clipping from the Reader off his apartment wall this evening and handed it to me when I pointed out the difference between a democracy and a republic.

This letter is riveting in its insight into our current state of complacency. However, the term "democracy" is mis-used here, as the framers built a republic, not a democracy.

It is said that the term "democracy" does not appear in the Constitution, nor the Declaration of Independence, nor any state's own constitutions.

Very well produced.

I have to wonder what is up with YouTube's counter on this song? Wonder if they have a governor on it... it should have over a million views by now...

How Blogging Might Keep Me Sane

Sun, 04/27/2008 - 01:09

I have published an independent newsweekly for fifteen years in the IA and IL Quad Cities -- The River Cities Reader. Despite being the publisher, I don't publish a weekly column, but as my friends and family will tell you, in the past 18 months, I've sent out enough BCC emails with links, excerpts, essays, rants and raves to start a blog.
